Top Contenders
The teams and drivers who were in the season entry list took part in the Hungarian Grand Prix. The competition didn’t have other stand-in drivers. Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton led with 148 and 41 points in the constructors and drivers championships. Most motor race fans expected them to maintain the lead. But, Max Verstappen was the fastest driver and the first Dutch to be on pole followed by Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas.
Max Verstappen’s Lead
Max started the Grand Prix from pole position.
Even so, Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas attacked him in turn one thus forcing him to defend in the inner line. Valtteri locked his right tire hence forcing Lewis to use a wide line. He allowed Max to pull away from both of them in the first two turns.
Charles Leclerc started in the fourth position. He maintained his lead over Sebastian Vettel through turn one. Carlos Sainz overtook Lando Norris and Pierre Gasly and approached Vettel. Bottas locked his car’s tires again and allowed Lewis to attack him from the wider line.
Hamilton overtook Bottas in turn three despite tapping his front wing. Many gamers wagered on Hamilton in Betway88 to make a profit. Bottas shifted to a wide line and slowed down. Leclerc overtook him in turn four and he damaged his front wing further when he shifted to the left. The stewards investigated Bottas’s sudden drift but didn’t take any appropriate action. The extensive damage on his wing slowed down his pace and allowed Vettel to overtake him.
Hamilton Overtakes Verstappen
Bottas pitted on lap six to replace his front wing. He was the last driver when he reemerged in the race. Hamilton and Verstappen battled each other to lead the race. Red Bull pulled Max to pit and Mercedes called Hamilton after a few laps. Hamilton’s team didn’t fix his rear right tire properly thus costing him valuable time. Verstappen led by six seconds when Lewis reemerged from the pit. His engineer advised him to check his tires. The British driver struggled to close the gap between him and Max.
After a while,
Max forced Hamilton to race off the track after a thrilling battle.
He was under intense pressure to maintain his lead. Max’s team inquired about the engine power of his car to ensure it was optimum. Mercedes decided to put new tires for Hamilton. It helped him record faster time laps than Max hence helping Lewis take the lead in the 67th lap.
Lewis Hamilton lagged in the first few laps of the Hungarian Grand Prix. He charged and overtook Max Verstappen three laps to the finishing line. Max had garnered most points in previous races. Bookies such as Betway gave him the lowest odds compared to other drivers. Hamilton’s team helped him overtake Max in the last lap to win the Grand Prix trophy.
